Each day during bowl season in my daily blog, I will give you my forecasts on the bowl games taking place that day. My forecasts will include a detailed write-up with my computer’s projected box score including rushing and passing yards, points and turnovers along with a detailed write-up on each game.

Oregon St is just a few plays away from playing in the Rose Bowl but instead fell down to the Las Vegas Bowl. BYU has won 5 of their last 7 games vs Pac-10. The Cougars lost this bowl game last year (Arizona 31-21) and will want to have a better showing. They know this site very well (8th trip since 2005) and their fans travel well to Las Vegas. The Cougars worst performances of this year came when QB Max Hall had heavy pressure but this matchups favors BYU as Oregon St has just 15 sacks and has put little pressure on QBs.

The Bowl Confidence Contest

Make sure to check the daily blog every day as we will be posting the standings here after every bowl game is played.

Out of more than 1200 entries only 11 picked the first 3 games correctly. Gene Winters leads the contest with 80 total points and a 100% win %. In second place is Don Seebold with 77 points who also won all three of his games. In third place is Butch Domann who has 67 points and risked the highest possible points so far with 99.

I have not started off well with 2 points won and 53 lost (4%) but there are 31 bowl games left and there is plenty of time for everyone to rebound that was hurt by the two early upsets.

Sometimes the early leaders are the ones that risked the most on the early bowls and they fall by the wayside as the contest goes on. Sometimes the early leaders in this category will remain at the top through it all it all. I will also keep track of those that have the best win percentage of their points.
