Daily Blog • January 8, 2010

The Daily blog will be undergoing some changes in the next couple of days now that the college football season is complete. Tomorrow's and Sunday's blog will give you my forecasts for the NFL Wildcard games played that day including my computer's projected box score of the games. Starting next week I will be going to a Monday, Wednesday and weekend blog format until magazine season is over in late spring/early summer. Next weeks blog will start analyzing this years bowl games giving you the top players and performances from the past bowl season. The following week will feature my projection of what the Preseason AP top 10 will be for 2010 and that will be coming after January 15th when juniors have to declare or not declare for the NFL Draft.

The MWC lost its first game of the bowl season on Monday in their most important bowl with Boise St beating TCU in the Fiesta Bowl. However the conference did finish with the highest win % and went 2-0 vs BCS teams. The Big East finished the bowl season a respectable 4-2 but did get trounced in their BCS game. The SEC had the most bowl participants with 10 and went 6-4 including 2-0 in their BCS games. With Alabama's win last night the SEC has now won 4 straight national championships and 6 of the 12 BCS titles. The Big 10 had their best bowl season in years winning four games over AP Top 15 teams capped off by last nights Iowa win over #9 Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl. Coming into this season the Big 10 was just 9-20 in bowl games from 2005-08 including 1-6 last year. The Big 12 finished at 4-4 and lost their most important game last night in the National title. Finally the MAC saw its 14 game bowl losing streak snap last night with Central Michigan beating Troy 44-41 in 2OT in the GMAC Bowl.
