Over the past few years we have received hundreds of resumes wondering about job openings at Phil Steele Publications. We have not had many opportunities the last few years, but now with me expanding my publications, including increasing the coverage of all FCS (IAA) teams, we actually do have a couple openings.

Before I get into the positions that will be opening, I want to stress what I am looking for in a potential employee. First, I am looking for someone with a lot of enthusiasm and energy, someone with a positive attitude that has a great work ethic. Second, I am also looking for someone that is not afraid of working extra hours during football and magazine season.  Finally, if you love the game of football and have a lot of passion for the greatest game in the world, really the kind of work you would be doing should not seem like work at all. If you feel that this describes you, then you could be a perfect candidate for Phil Steele Publications. I know many people across the country would like to have a job where they go to an office and study/analyze football all day.

The opening (s) that I have are for what I call Conference Coordinators. If you are in charge of a conference, basically you read each team’s local papers every day and keep me up to date on everything that is going on with your schools. You assist me on power ratings, All-Conference teams, etc. On College Football Saturdays you chart games (write down the play-by-play in my format) for many of your conference games and assist in other games as needed. During the offseason (January-June) we work hard on producing the magazines and you would be in charge of helping with proofing the magazine in addition to getting the teams accurate information ready for me to write (not only your assigned conference but others as well).

Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Mac computers are preferred in addition to strong mathematical skills. If you have worked with Adobe Dreamweaver that would also be beneficial. The openings do require you to be in the office, which is located in Cleveland, Ohio. (moving expenses would not be reimbursed)

If you are interested you can email your resume with references and cover letter to jobs@philsteele.com or mail it to Phil Steele Publications, 25935 Detroit Rd., Ste 183, Cleveland, Ohio 44145.

Review of applications will start April 5, 2011 and applications after that date will be considered only if the positions are not filled. Selected applicants will be notified starting April 11, 2011.
