November 24th
UCLA at Stanford
Stanford 35-17

The Bruins were in a tough situation spot here because if they beat Stanford, they would have to travel to face the potent Ducks on the road in Autzen Stadium whereas if they lost to Stanford, they would play them again this week, although they would still have to travel. Had Oregon St upset UO earlier in the day, UCLA would have been playing for a home field in this gm. Perhaps this helped SU be a little more focused, although they only had 19-13 FD and 381-334 yd edges. Stepfan Taylor rushed for 142 yards and now needs just 36 to become the all-time career leading rusher here. Kevin Hogan continued his steady play hitting 15-22-160. Each team drove for a td on its opening poss and then there were 6 punts. SU went 88/10pl for a td then got a 56/2pl drive with a 49 yd td run by Taylor, 21-7 (6:43 2Q). SU had a bad snap on a punt at its own 22 with 3:02 left in the half and LA got a 48 yd FG to pull within 21-10 at half (SU 231-165 yd edge). Each team punted to open the 3Q then LA was int'd and SU went 42/4pl for a td then ret'd the fmbl'd KO 11 yds to blow open a tight game, 35-10 (7:21). After 2 punts, LA drove 65/5pl for a td, 35-17 (1:53). SU went 53/12pl but missed a 45 yd FG. UCLA got 2 FD's but on 4&17 fired inc from the SU45 with 6:40 left. The D held SU to a 3&out and LA took over with 5:45 left. From their own 38 using the no huddle, they drove 48/11pl but on 4&5 fired in from the SU14 with 2:30 left. SU got 1 FD and took a knee.
