Daily Blog - Wednesday May 27th

Welcome to my Wednesday Blog. For the last month or so we have been running polls on the site with you the college football fan voting for who will be the champs in each conference and or division. It looks like most of the BCS conferences received about 2500 votes and the non BCS conferences got about 1500. I want to thank each and every one of you that voted for taking your time to do so.

A quick check of the results shows Florida St and Virginia Tech the favorites to meet in the ACC title game and I think those two teams will be the favorites. The CUSA title match is projected as East Carolina vs Tulsa, a rematch of last year. The SEC title game is projected as Florida vs Alabama, also a rematch. The MAC title game is projected to be Central Michigan vs Buffalo. The Big 12 title game is projected by you the voter to be Texas vs Nebraska. The other conference favorites look to be USC, Boise, Troy, Utah, Ohio St and West Virginia. My favorites for each conference will come out on June 9th when the 2009 Phil Steele's College Football Preview hits the newsstands.

The biggest favorites among the conferences are...
Florida 80.1% • Boise 69.8% • USC 66% • Nebraska 51% • Ohio St 50.2%

The closest two battles are the Big East and the Big 12 South. West Virginia received 27.5% of the votes and Pitt was #2 at 22.2% of the Big East votes.

For most of the month Texas and Oklahoma were seperated by about 1% but at the end Texas pulled away with 47.3% to 42% for Oklahoma in the Big 12 South.

Here are the complete results of the poll and once again thanks for voting.
