Remember on Tuesday all of the average power ratings were in for each of the teams. I can tell you right now that the computer’s #1 team in the country for average power ratings this year is Florida with a 99.2 average team grade while Texas is close behind at 99.21. Alabama is a distant 3rd at 95.36 followed by TCU with 91.54, Oklahoma 91.06 and Oregon at 90.92. Penn St comes in at #7 at 87.66. Those are the average of the Individual team grades for the year.

Now let’s look at this past weekend.

Probably the most impressive performance of the year was Oregon’s and they earned a 117.98 grade for their demolition of USC. They rushed for 391 yards, had 613 yards offense and 47 points against a previously highly regarded defense outgaining the Trojans by 286 yards.

There were two other performances that earned over 100 points this week as TCU blasted UNLV with a 418 yard edge and Wisconsin beat Purdue 37-0 with a 240 yard edge.

Florida’s win over Georgia was #4 this week and that does not reflect that UGA had a bye to prep for this one.

Texas going into Oklahoma St and winning by 27 was impressive on the scoreboard but was not rated as high as the Oregon game due to the fact Texas was actually outgained by 2 yards. They had 2 interception return TD’s and another 15 yard drive for a TD.

Wake Forest had the highest losing effort this week as they outgained Miami, Fl by 199 yards at home but unfortunately came up 1 point short for them.

Ohio St, as expected, shut down New Mexico St allowing 62 yards offense and in fact, just 2 FD’s. They outgained NMSt by 497 yards.

Illinois’ upset of Michigan where they outgained the Wolverines by 123 and outscored them by 25 points earned them the #8 spot.

Notre Dame’s win at a neutral site over Washington St was indeed impressive as they outgained the Cougars by 386 yards. Also keep in mind WSU gained 90 of their yards on the final two drives of the game.

Missouri’s wipeout of Colorado on the road earned them the #10 spot this week.

Texas A&M’s comfortable win over Iowa St, 35-10 earned them the #11 spot as they had a balanced attack with 267 yards rushing and 234 passing.

Auburn was actually a dog at home versus Mississippi and while they only outgained them by 7 yards, the 13 point win over a ranked team is good enough to get them the #12 spot.

Georgia Tech did put up a lot of points late but also outgained Vanderbilt by 200 yards and earned the #13 spot.

Mississippi St went on the road against Kentucky and kept their bowl hopes alive while outgaining the Wildcats by 185 yards including 348 yards rushing.

Texas Tech started Doege at QB and went to Potts in the 2H and he had a big 4Q for a 42-21 win holding Kansas to just 258 yards offense and earning the #15 spot.

Duke kept their bowl hopes alive and outgained Virginia by 228 yards on the road in a 28-17 win.

Boston College knocked off a team that will likely be the MAC Champions, Central Michigan. They had a 101 yard edge in their 21 point win and were #17.

SMU upset Tulsa on the road by 14, outgaining them by 107 yards. It’s surprising the computer didn’t like that one more and only pegged them #18.

Minnesota upset Michigan St at home outgaining them by 145 yards, even without WR Decker and was #20.

North Carolina’s upset on the road in Blacksburg on a Thursday night earned them the #21 spot.

A couple of teams with losing games earned Top 25 performances in Oklahoma St vs Texas as they outgained the Horns by 2 yards and Kansas St only lost to Oklahoma by 12 on the road.
