Missouri did lead Baylor 27-16 at the half with a 347-198 yard edge. Both QB’s had big passing days as freshman Nick Florence set a Baylor school record with 427 yards passing and 3 TD’s. Missouri QB Blaine Gabbert had the 2nd highest total in school history hitting 30-51 for 468 yards. Baylor got a 59 yard TD pass early 4Q to lead 33-29 and was up 40-29. Missouri got a 46 yard FG with 2:55 left and then forced a punt with 1:57 left. The Tigers got to the Baylor 28 but on 4th & 6 Gabbert fired incomplete.

WKU played a solid game against Troy. In fact, in the first half WKU had a 308-201 yard edge. The Hilltoppers actually trailed 21-20 because they settled for 29 and 43 yard FG’s and were SOD at the Troy 31. Troy also got a TD after WKU fumbled a punt at its own 5. In the 2H WKU missed 2 47 yard FG’s and Troy, up 34-20, got a TD with 6:30 left for a 20 point win in a game much closer than the final.

A few weeks back Nebraska had 8 turnovers in a 2 point loss to Iowa St. Fortune went the Huskers way this week vs Oklahoma. In fact in the 1H the Sooners had an 11-1 FD edge but missed a 46 yd FG, had a 45 yard FG blocked, were intercepted at their own 23 and returned 22 yards to the OU1 which set Nebraska up for a 1 yard TD drive. Oklahoma was SOD on 4th & 1 at the Nebraska 22 and settled for a 28 yard FG and despite their domination, they trailed 7-3 at the half. In the 2H OU was intercepted at the Nebraska 26 which set up a Husker 28 yard FG, 10-3. OU missed a 42 yard FG, was intercepted at the NU19 and was SOD at the NU24 (8:54 left 4Q). NU did miss a 43 yard FG on their only other scoring opportunity. OU went on a 10 play drive but was intercepted at the NU32 and then, on 2nd & 10 at the NU49 with :41 left, the Sooners surprisingly threw up a Hail Mary which was intercepted at the 6 even though they had plenty of time for 3 or 4 more plays.

Cincinnati had a 457-144 yard edge at the half over Connecticut and led 30-10. They led 37-17 mid-3Q but Connecticut, thanks in part to an 87 yard PR TD, battled back. The Huskies went on a 62 yard, 14 play drive converting on 4th & 1 twice including their 2 yard TD run but their 2 point conversion failed and they trailed 40-38 with 5:03 left. Cincy took the kickoff and went 56 yards in 8 plays and got a 4th & 1, 14 yard TD run with 1:52 left to go back up by 9 and Connecticut got a TD with :13 left.

It’s not too often a team has a 5-1 turnover deficit, loses its starting QB in the 2Q due to an injury and yet still wins the game. That is what happened to UCLA against Washington. UCLA had the ball at the UW10 when QB Prince got injured and 2nd string QB Brehaut was sacked and fumbled at the 23 on his first play which killed a scoring drive. Kevin Craft, who was last year’s starter, came in for the 3Q. UCLA fumbled at the 50 which set up a UW TD and was intercepted at the UW20 killing a drive, but got a 28 yard FG with 14:53 left to lead 24-23. UW missed a 38 yard FG with 10:40 left and was intercepted at the UCLA19 with :54 left.

The 40-24 final score shows Clemson winning in a rout but Florida St led 24-21 and CU missed a 26 yard FG and then punted with 12:28 left in the game. The Tigers intercepted Ponder and on the return the ball was fumbled but scooped up and returned all the way to the FSU24. That set up a TD with 9:37 left which gave CU the lead. CU then went 73 yards in 6 plays for a TD and after another interception, got a 5 yard drive for a TD to blow the game open, 40-24.

It was a tough loss for Tulsa. Tulsa led 45-37 after getting a TD with 3:28 left. Houston would convert on 4th & 3 and got a TD with just :21 left, but when they missed the 2 point conversion it appeared Tulsa had pulled out the win. Tulsa was stacked to Houston’s left as they kicked off, but the Cougars kicked it to the right and recovered the ball. Keenum then completed 14 and 13 yard passes to set up a FG attempt. Hogan’s career long had been just 34 yards but he nailed a 51 yarder on the final play of the game and Houston pulled out the miracle win.

Nevada had a dominating 62-7 win over San Jose St. In the 1H, trailing 13-0, San Jose St did have a 59 yard, 10 play drive but missed a 40 yard FG. The game was 27-0 when Nevada took over at their own 30 with :24 left in the half and Taua got a 70 yard TD run to lead 34-0 with Nevada rolling up 404 yards of offense in the 1H. Nevada opened it up to 55-0 early in the 4Q and San Jose St would gain 123 of their yards on their final two drives getting a TD with 10:50 left. In the game the Wolf Pack tied an NCAA record with 4 players rushing for over 100 yards in RB Taua (144), QB Kaepernick (115), RB Mark (114) and Lippincott (112). The last school to have 4 100 yard rushers was Nebraska in 2001 vs Baylor.
