It sure appears that we are on a collision course for a Texas vs SEC Champ National Title Game, but don’t discount those TCU Horned Frogs if Texas slips up along the way.

It also looks like the Top 5 Heisman contenders have come to the forefront (in no particular order): Tim Tebow - Florida, Colt McCoy - Texas, Mark Ingram - Alabama, CJ Spiller - Clemson and Toby Gerhart - Stanford.

Here are this week’s top average performances:

Oklahoma had a 414 yard edge in their 65-10 rout over Texas A&M earning them the top grade this week.

The #2 performance was Stanford going into USC and not only outgaining the Trojans by 135 yards, but laying 55 points on them in their rout.

Alabama’s 31-3 win at Mississippi St earned them the #3 grade.

Georgia Tech outgained Duke by 239 yards and won by 39 on the road to earn the #4 performance.

Mississippi outgained Tennessee by 217 yards and won by 25 at home giving them the #5 spot.

TCU’s expected blowout (by me) of Utah (outgained them by 265 yards and won 55-28) earned them the #6 spot. I was a bit surprised to see Utah score 28 points but they did have just 284 yards.

Texas almost had the crowd edge at Baylor and while they only outgained them by 165 yards, it still was an impressive 47-14 win.

Rutgers’ midweek rout of USF, 31-3 earned them the #9 spot.

UCLA was only averaging 20 ppg but put up 43 vs Washington St and had a 375 yard edge and they were #11.

While Florida’s victory over South Carolina wasn’t as impressive as most expected, it still earned the computer’s ranking of the #12 performance for the week.

Nevada only outgained Fresno by 32 yards but the 52-14 final was good enough to earn them the #16 spot.

The best losing performance of the week went to Iowa, with a backup QB, who was only outgained by Ohio St by 3. The game basically finished in a 24-24 tie as they lost in OT. They far outperformed most expectations.

Nebraska going into Kansas and coming out with a 14 point win earned them the #21 spot.

Boise St trying to keep pace with TCU blew out Idaho, 63-17 but did only have a 31 yard edge, although Idaho gained a lot on their final 3 drives of the game. Check out my News and Notes tomorrow for more information on that.

Temple continued their win streak with an impressive 56-17 win at Akron and that got them into the Top 25 of the individual game grades this week.

Today I’ve got a two-hour conference call with the Football Writers Association (FWAA) as we will be picking out the Defensive All-American’s this year. A couple of them are no-brainers like Nebraska’s DT Ndamukong Suh, but it should be an interesting 2 hour debate and the FWAA only selects a First Team, there are no Second or Third teamers, so it’s a tough vote as you are either on the team or you are not. Trust me, I do a Preseason All American Team at the start of the year and I like to have at least four teams so I can at least mention all of the worthy players, but there is something to be said for the FWAA’s format and those that do earn the AA honors ARE the best in college football.

Here's the breakdown of the Top 25 Individual Performances for this week:
