Here are my 2010 recruiting rankings. They take into account the strength of the Top 5 signees, the Top 10 signees and the average signing grade per player for the overall class. This list is not about the quantity of the freshmen signed but the overall quality of the class. Sometimes a team with a small class of just 15 players may rate higher than one with 30.

Here are some interesting notes on this year's signing ratings. Despite losing Pete Carroll to the NFL, USC continued their recruiting dominance as they signed the top class in the Pac 10 for the 9th straight season and also claimed the top overall spot for the 5th time in 6 years!! Florida brought in the top class in the SEC (#3 overall) and there are 5 SEC schools in the Top 10 for the 2nd consecutive year. Joe Paterno and Penn St signed in their best class since 2000 which was the last time a team other than Ohio St or Michigan finished #1 in the Big 10.

Obviously recruiting rankings are a good tool to predict a team's future success, but are clearly just a part of a team's success. A good example of this is Cincinnati who has won back-to back Big East Titles despite finishing no higher than 6th in conference or #62 nationally since 2005.

The rankings for Air Force, Army and Navy are not complete because the academies do not release official signee lists until summer (and even then most recruits head to Prep schools).
