Erik Kuselias has been one of the leading Fantasy Football experts in the nation for over a decade. Most notably, while at ESPN (2003-2010) Kuselias was asked to create, host and lead ESPN’s first season long Fantasy football show “Fantasy Football Now.’ In its first season, the show was nominated and won ESPN’s First Fantasy Emmy, claiming honors for Outstanding New Show. With Kuselias, the show moved from an ESPN.com venture over to television garnering huge ratings on ESPN2, and “Fantasy Football Now” became one of the leading shows anywhere on fantasy football.

In 2011, Kuselias signed on with The Golf Channel to host “Morning Drive,” a daily talk show that covers golf as well as other sports. The show debuted on January 3, and can be seen from 7-9 AM ET.

This past year I was pleased to have Erik write my Fantasy Football Guide in this year's Pro Football Preview. Today I am going to give you Erik's Fantasy Rankings for Week 9.

Surprise College Fantasy Players of the Week

Two years ago I started a weekly blog that included my surprise fantasy picks for each week of the college football season. Each week I picked the players that were flying under the radar and I am pleased that I finished my first year at a very successful 83-29-7 (74%). Last year I had another successful year with a winning week every week and an overal 103-45-17 (70%) record.

This year I will again be giving you the surprise fantasy picks each and every week in my Thursday daily blog and here are my picks for Week 10. Keep in mind you will not find players like Andrew Luck, Denard Robinson, LaMichael James or Justin Blackmon in my picks. These are strictly surprise picks of players who are flying under the radar. Last week I went 7-3 including a perfect 4-0 with my RBs/WRS! I am currently 59-33-10 (64%) on the picks so far this season and the last 4 weeks I am 29-10-1 (74%).

QUARTERBACKS:

My QB’s of the Week: JJ McDermott, SMU and Cody Fajardo, Nevada

JJ McDermott, SMU- The selections at QB this week feature 2 QB’s who were not in the starting lineup when the year began but showed enough in their 1st outings to earn the spot for the remainder of the season. McDermott is an integral part of the Mustangs offense that is averaging 415 ypg. When looking at SMU’s opponent this week in Navy, I noticed that the Middies have faced 2 CUSA opponents TY in Southern Miss and ECU with both teams surpassing the 300 yd passing mark. HC June Jones is also aware that when SMU throws for 300+ yds, his Mustangs have gone 5-0 during the 2011 season.

Cody Fajardo, Nevada- Despite being led by a rFr QB, the Nevada offense has been a potent group averaging 640 ypg in their last 4 contests. Fajardo is a dual-threat weapon that has surpassed the 300 ttl yard mark in each of his last 2 games against Fresno and New Mexico St. He now gets to face a Hawaii team that takes the long trip to potentially cold Reno that actually saw some snow hit the ground this week. My computers are calling for the Wolfpack to eclipse the 500 yd mark yet again this week and I fully agree.

RUNNING BACKS:

My RB’s of the week are: Rodney Stewart, Colorado and Kenny Turner, New Mexico St

Rodney Stewart, Colorado- When evaluating our RB’s for the blog this week we didn’t necessarily just look at their rushing marks, but their contributions in the receiving game as well. While Colorado is going through a dismal season that has seen his team struggle with injuries and poor play, Rodney “Speedy” Stewart leads the Buffs in both rushing and receiving despite missing 2 games himself with a knee injury. Stewart is 31% of the Colorado offense for 2011 and should fashion another solid performance here against and Arizona defense that has begun to infuse their starting lineup with younger players.

Kenny Turner, New Mexico St- After spending 2010 as a RB, the Aggies explored the idea of moving Turner to WR early on but he settled back at RB by week 4 and has surpassed the 90 yd rushing mark in 5 of 6 games since. Don’t forget about his receiving ability as well however as he’s pulled in 20 receptions for 258 yds over the past 3 games.

WIDE RECEIVERS:

My WR’s of the week are: Marquess Wilson, Washington St, Marqise Lee, USC and Mohamed Sanu, Rutgers

Marquess Wilson, Washington St- Wilson returns to my fantasy receiver set this week as he’s been a favorite of mine over the past 2 years with great success. Wilson needs 26 yards to eclipse 1,000 yards receiving this year, which will make him just the second wideout in school history to post consecutive 1,000-yard seasons (Jason Hill, 2004-05). A favorable matchup against an ASU secondary that is missing their top CB due to injury should all but assure this rising star an opportunity to hit the century mark here.

Marqise Lee, USC- While teammate Robert Woods gets the National attention and double teams on the field, Marqise Lee has begun to make a name for himself on the other side of the field as a true frosh. Over the last 5 games (including the Notre Dame game when he was injured), Lee has pulled in 30 passes for 479 yards and 5 TD’s. With an excellent opportunity against a Washington secondary that is allowing 467 yards on the road in 2011, pull the trigger on this budding star here.

Mohamed Sanu, Rutgers- While Rutgers has had some issues at the QB position in 2011, the one consistent has been the play of Sanu. Over his first 2 seasons Sanu had pulled in 95 receptions for 1057 yds and 5 TD’s. This year alone he has already recorded 81 receptions for 844 yards and 7 TD’s including 5 games with double digit receptions!! As Sanu continues to gain steam in the eyes of many NFL scouts, use this dynamic playmaker before it’s too late. Oh and by the way, Mr. Sanu is just 12 receptions away from breaking the BE single season record from some guy named Larry Fitzgerald.

DEFENSES:

My Top Defenses of the Week: BYU, Arkansas and Kent St

BYU vs Idaho- The Cougars have held 4 of their 9 opponents under 300 yds in 2011 including just 283 in their last game against a TCU squad that is averaging 452 ypg. My computers are calling for the Vandals to put up just 205 yds (outgained by 164 ypg vs FBS opponents TY) against a rested BYU team that just enjoyed their 1st bye week of the season.

Arkansas vs Tennessee- A rejuvenated Razorback squad has renewed hope following Alabama’s loss a week ago. Their gift for this Saturday? How about a true freshman making his first road start of his career!! My computer has the Vols projected with just 17 points and 295 yards vs an Arkansas defense that put heavy pressure on the Gamecocks offense a week ago holding SC to just 226 ttl yds (162 ypg under their season avg).

Kent St vs Akron- Excellent opportunity for the Kent St defense to make a statement in the 41st battle for the Wagon Wheel against hated rival Akron. My computer projections have the Flashes allowing just 276 yards to the Zips who are averaging just 236 yards and 10 ppg over their first 4 road games this year.

UPSET OF THE WEEK:

Iowa over Michigan St

LY also at home Iowa beat #5 MSU 37-6 (led 31-0 at HT). The L3Y MSU’s rush attack has been held to 69 ypg (2.4) but UI’s DL featured 3 NFL DC while that may not be the case TY (181 rush ypg, 4.3 in B10 play). MSU struggled to get past the scrappy Gophers 31-24 as they trailed 24-21 going into the 4Q and were outgained 415-402 as they relied on an int at the MSU23 with :14 left to seal the deal. LY’s #1 rusher Baker (492, 4.2) lost another fmbl and was benched for Bell (528, 5.2). MSU is avg just 8.7 ppg and 289 ypg on the road TY. MSU allows 104 rush ypg (2.9). Iowa led 24-9 early 4Q but had to hang on to pull the upset of Mich. UM had a long TD run called back, dropped a TD pass and had 1 ruled OOB on their final drive as they threw inc on 4 passes at the UI3 with no time left. Coker (1101, 5.2) is the B10’s #1 rusher. UI has home, series and ST (#44-81) edges to pull yet another stunner and take the Leaders lead.

CollegeFootballGeek.com’s Sneaky Plays – Week 11
By Kevin Mount, CollegeFootballGeek.com

The 11th week of the college fantasy season is upon us and with it comes the start of the playoffs in many leagues. Here is a look at some players who might fill in nicely for owners in need of a potential diamond in the rough for the opening week of the fantasy playoffs.

QUARTERBACKS

Kain Colter QB Northwestern vs. Rice:
Colter is a tremendous athlete who has been asked to do a little bit of everything for Northwestern this season and has responded with solid numbers across the board. His value is through the in leagues in which he is eligible at the wide receiver position. With the injury status of Dan Persa being up in the air, Colter could see even more time under center this week against Rice. He should face little resistance from a wretched Rice pass defense that ranks 116th in the nation. Expect big numbers from this multi-purpose threat in Week 11.

Nick Fanuzzi QB Rice vs. Northwestern:
Fanuzzi exploded last week versus UTEP to the tune of 405 yards through the air and three touchdowns, and seems to have shored up the starting quarterback job. He should be able to find some success this week against a Northwestern defense that is anything but solid. Fanuzzi may have to throw the ball 40 to 50 times to keep pace or play catch up against Northwestern, so a good yardage total is likely from this Owl.

Jordan Rodgers QB Vanderbilt vs. Kentucky:

The younger brother of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been very productive in his last three starts, averaging about 300 yards of total offense per game and eight total scores. He is dangerous with both his legs and arm and has turned the Vanderbilt offense completely around. Rodgers could post quality numbers this week when he faces a suspect Kentucky defense this weekend. The world is changing and Vanderbilt may actually have a couple of fantasy options this week.

Chris Coyer QB Temple vs. Miami Ohio:

This sophomore came on in relief last week against Ohio and turned in a huge performance, rushing for 184 yards and tossing thee touchdown passes. That type of performance should be good enough to warrant him starting this week against Miami Ohio. Coyer is an excellent runner and could exploit a Miami Ohio rush defense that comes in ranked 75th in the nation. Fantasy owners would be wise to check his status this week and use him as long as he is named the starter in Week 11.

RUNNING BACKS

Joe Bergeron RB Texas vs. Missouri:

The “other” freshman in the Texas backfield is looking more and more like the real deal as the weeks go on. He filled in last week for an injured Malcolm Brown and proceeded to churn out 191 yards and three scores against Texas Tech. Bergeron will likely see a decent number of carries this week even with Brown in the lineup, but he becomes a much better option if Brown misses this week’s game against Missouri. Don’t be afraid to plug this Longhorn into your lineup this week especially if Brown is kept out due to injury.

Donte Harden RB Ohio vs. Central Michigan:
Harden has collected 388 total yards over the past two weeks and has logged over 20 carries in each of those games. He looks to have a good chance to crack the 100-yard plateau for a third straight game this week against Central Michigan. The Central Michigan is not exactly stout and yields over 170 yards per game on the ground.

James White RB Wisconsin vs. Minnesota:
White has not been nearly as productive as most thought coming into this season due to the dominance of Montee Ball, but he could see plenty of action this week against Minnesota. The Badgers should dominate a weak Minnesota rush defense and pound them into submission early, leaving plenty of mop up carries for Mr. White this week. Some decent yardage and a couple of trips to the end zone seem likely in Week 11.

Asher Clark RB Air Force vs. Wyoming:
This senior has been a consistent performer for Air Force and could have his best game of the season this week versus Wyoming. Clark has had a decent season yardage wise, but has only scored four touchdowns on the year to date. He could easily add to that touchdown total against a Wyoming rush defense that ranks 115th in the country and allows over 230 yards per game. That ranking combined with the potent rushing attack of Air Force could mean big numbers for Clark this week.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Jordan Matthews WR Vanderbilt vs. Kentucky:

Armageddon must be upon us as last week we had two Iowa State players listed and now we have two Vanderbilt players in this week’s article. Matthews has been on absolute fire the past two games, posting 321 receiving yards and two scores. He is the main weapon in an improving passing game and could be fruitful again this week versus Kentucky. Look for the Jordan Rodgers to Jordan Matthews connection to be in full swing again this Saturday.

Tony Clemons WR Colorado vs. Arizona:

Clemons has quietly put together two solid games in a row with 209 yards and three touchdowns receiving over that period. The signs are pointing to a third straight good game for Clemons this week as he faces an awful Arizona secondary that gives up almost 285 yard per game through the air. The Colorado pass defense is not very good either, so this game could produce gaudy passing totals for each team. Look for Clemons to be heavily involved in what might just be a highflying contest.

Da’Jon McKnight WR Minnesota vs. Wisconsin:
McKnight was unstoppable last week against Michigan State, hauling in 173 yards and whopping three touchdowns. He has not been very consistent this season, but is worth a look this week against Wisconsin. The Gophers figure to be down early and will have to throw often to compete in any way possible. He may get some easy yards if the Badgers are up big and sitting in the prevent defense. McKnight looks to be a bust or boom type of player this week.

Griff Whalen WR Stanford vs. Oregon:

Whalen has quietly developed into the go to receiver for Andrew Luck over the past four games. With Chris Owusu being knocked out of last week’s game, Whalen will likely see even more targets come his way this week. The match up with Oregon has the potential to be a shootout and Whalen could be a big part of the Cardinal passing attack. He may not post huge numbers, but could be good for around 100 yards and a score. He should make a decent #3 wide out in BCS only leagues.

TIGHT ENDS

Chris Gragg TE Arkansas vs. Tennessee:

Gragg is averaging around four receptions per game and is playing in a high-powered passing attack, so he is worth a shot this week against Tennessee. The pickings look slim this week at the TE position, so roll with Gragg and hope for a score and some yardage.

SNEAKY DEFENSES

Baylor vs. Kansas
Wisconsin vs. Minnesota
Rutgers vs. Army
Notre Dame vs. Maryland
BYU vs. Idaho

There you have it everyone, enjoy this week’s action and always remember to have fun playing college fantasy football. Good luck this week!
