Players to Circle in Your Magazine
Thankfully, the loyal readers of my College Football Preview magazine have been blessed with patience. I say that because, as most of you know, my magazine is usually the last major preview publication to become available during the summer.
Although I could release the magazine sooner- and therefore increase sales in the process- my ultimate goal is to produce the most accurate, current and informative publication for my readers. By waiting to release the magazine, I am able to capture roster changes that take place in the late spring and early summer. Since the enactment of the graduate transfer rule that allows players to transfer schools and become eligible immediately, there are even more important changes that I can identify in the final stages of the magazine. A prime example from this year is Florida State QB Everett Golson, who announced his departure from Notre Dame on May 7th, then indicated that he planned to enroll at FSU on May 19th.
Nonetheless, as the summer progresses, there are additional roster changes that continue to take place as a result of transfers, academic suspensions and, unfortunately, player misconduct. My staff and I try to track all of these changes through the course of our daily reading and we have compiled a working list of players who have since left their particular school. This list is intended to be comprehensive, but there may be some players who may have slipped through the cracks due to a lack of media coverage. If you are aware of any players who should be added to this list, please send me a Tweet (@philsteele042).
You will also note that some of the players include a “PS#,” which was his ranking at his position coming out of high school. I only listed this number for players below with an especially high ranking (e.g., Jacob Park).
