2015 EXPERIENCE CHART (page 29 of magazine)

For the last week or so I have been going thru the individual factors in my experience chart from the 2015 magazine.  I conclude the series by combining the five factors into my final ranking.

For a complete breakdown of each of the factors involved you can read those individual blogs.

2015 Career Starts Offensive Line - Blog June 4th

2015 % of Lettermen returning - Blog June 5th

2015 % of Yards returning - Blog June 9th

2015 % of Tackles returning - Blog June 10th

2015 Two Deep Class breakdown - Blog June 15th

I then devised a formula that factors all 5 into the total points equation and then turned the point total into a number from 100 to 0. A 100 would be a team with 25 seniors (NCAA scholarship limit) in the two deep and every yard and tackle returning and 120+ career starts on the offensive line. A 0 would be a team with no experience and 0 seniors in the two deep. Just as in years past the first number is where each team ranks in the NCAA.

At the top of the chart this year is Massachusetts as they have 19 returning starters and just 10 lettermen lost from last year and ranked high in every category. Appalachian St comes in at #2 with 20 returning starters this year and just 15 lettermen lost. They ranked #3 in % yards returning and #3 in % tackles returning. The most experience Power 5 Conference teams are  California which checks in at #3 overall and North Carolina at #8 overall. One team from these rankings last year that did quite well was Miss St which was the 5th most experienced team last year and despite coming into the season unranked they were the #1 ranked team in the country for a 5 week span.

Florida St, Boston College, Wyoming, Florida, Alabama, Fresno St, Oregon St, Nevada, South Alabama and Miami Ohio are the 10 least experienced teams in the FBS. Florida St may not have the % of yards returning in their favor but by adding Everett Golson they have a lot more yards returning and are probably a little more experienced than the stats would show. Also I just looked at the magazine page and South Alabama is not listed on page 29, they would have been last in the Sun Belt with an overall rank of 120.

Here is the complete Experience Chart which is featured on page 29 in this year’s magazine.
