Strength of Wins/ Pain of Losses Thru Week 10.
Strength of Wins
I find this chart to be very interesting every year. How it’s devised is if you beat an FBS opponent you get credit for all their wins over their FBS opponents. Note this chart does not count wins over FCS teams even if they are 11-0.
In this first chart below you can see Strength of Wins. Here you can see Alabama still in the #1 spot on this list. Alabama has faced USC, WKU, Mississippi, Kent St, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas A&M and LSU and those teams have a total of 49 wins. My chart grades 4 teams as having credit with a win but their foes have not won a single game vs a FBS foe.
Here is the Complete list of Strength of Wins with rank:Games Played Thru 11/5/16

Pain of Losses
This next chart we will go over is the Pain of Losses. Here if you lose to an opponent you get credit for all their losses. While there are 5 teams unbeaten, there are an additional 2 teams who have only lost to an unbeaten foe. Bufflao is at the bottom of this list with a combined 35 foe losses. Their foe losses include Albany, Nevada, Boston College, Kent St, Ball St, Northern Illinois, and Ohio. Unlike the Strength of Wins chart, the Pain of Losses chart does include a loss to an FCS foe. I count that loss as 4 towards the combined foe loss record due to the weakness of the opponent.

Overall Wins and Losses
In this last chart below you can see the overall wins and losses. As you can see the top teams are Alabama, Clemson and Michigan. The bottom teams are all the 1 win teams. One of the most interesting teams here is Louisville (highlighted in green). If you take a closer look, Louisville's only loss from a unbeaten Clemson team. So Louisville does not get credit for any losses. On the other side if you look at the botton of this list. Kansas, Bowling Green, Rice and Fresno St each have 1 win but it was against an FCS foe so they do not get credit for it here.
