Strength of Wins/ Pain of Losses - Final thru Bowls.

Strength of Wins

I find this chart to be very interesting every year. How it’s devised is if you beat an FBS opponent you get credit for all their wins over their FBS opponents. Week 14 Blog post on December 10th can be found <Here> to see the change in records. The teams records below will be thru the National Championship game.

In this first chart below you can see Strength of Wins. Here you can see the National Champion Alabama is still in the lone #1 spot on this list. Bama has wins vs Wisconsin, Middle Tenn, ULM, Georgia, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, LSU, Miss St, Auburn, Florida, Michigan St and Clemson and those teams have a total of 115 combined wins. Alabama also won against Charleston Southern but a win versus a FCS foe does not count towards their wins. At the bottom you will see your winless teams UCF, and Kansas.

Pain of Losses

This next chart we will go over is the Pain of Losses. Here if you lose to an opponent you get credit for all their losses. ULM still on the top of this list with a combined 76 foe losses. Their foe losses include Georgia, Alabama, Georgia Southern, Tulsa, Appalachian St, Idaho, UL Lafayette, Troy, Arkansas St, Texas St, Hawaii and Middle Tennessee. Unlike the Strength of Wins chart, the Pain of Losses chart does include a loss to an FCS foe. I count that loss as 4 towards the combined foe loss record due to the weakness of the opponent.

Overall Wins and Losses

In this last chart below you can see the overall wins and losses. As you can see the top team is Clemson which their only loss was to Alabama team in the National Championship giving them a 84-1 (98.8%) record. The bottom teams are all the two winless teams. In this list even though Army has 2 wins they only get credit for one (Eastern Michigan) because the other was against an FCS foe (Bucknell).
