GEORGIA – The Bulldogs haven’t allowed a 100+ game rusher all year.

KENTUCKY - WR Randall Cobb (bruised shoulder; 9 starts, #2 rusher with 396, 6.9 and #1 receiver with 32 12.0 and 4 TD’s will be a game-time decision as he couldn’t finish Wednesday’s practice.

MISS ST - Backup QB Relf (15-29 for 213 yards with a 3-3 ratio, 301 rush yds, 6.1) may see more snaps this week. Starter Lee (10 starts, 137 yards per game, 59%, 4-13 ratio) has struggled the last few games with a 1-7 ratio failing to throw for 150 yards in each of the last 3 games.

TENNESSEE - LB Rico McCoy (10 starts, #1 tackler with 84, 2.5 tfl, sustained a knee injury last week) practiced Thursday and said he is “game ready” for Vandy.

VANDERBILT - Jamie Graham (10 games, 17 tackles, 2 pbu, 4 receptions, 12 yards rush) was a WR in ‘08 then moved to CB in ‘09, but moved back to WR 3 weeks ago with all of the injuries over there. This week he may start at CB in place of Myron Lewis (11 starts, 41 tackles, 8 pbu, 4 interceptions) who is out with a torn meniscus.

BIG TEN

MICHIGAN - The Big Ten conference’s official offensive player of the week has come from a player who faced Michigan 3 out of the last 4 weeks and 4 overall on the season (no other team has more than 1).

INDIANA - IU has lost 5 leads of a collective 62 points in its 6 conference losses. The Ohio St game was the only one that the Hoosiers didn’t lead.

IOWA - Since the BCS era began in 1998, only three teams nationally have ever made a BCS bowl after losing two or more games after October 31 (as the Hawkeyes have done). Those three teams were Oklahoma in 2002, Miami in 2003 and Florida State in 2005. Of those three teams, zero got at-large invitations. They all got automatic bids. So, if the Hawks get an at-large invite, they’d be the first school ever to do so after losing two games in November or later.

UNLV – Fired HC Sanford the Sunday following the Air Force loss. He will finish out the season.

ARIZONA ST - Part-time starting LB Gerald Munns is doubtful after leaving last week’s game with a elbow injury. QB Danny Sullivan is questionable to return due to a bicep injury but it’s doubtful he would start here even if healthy. O-lineman Matt Hustad and Zach Schlink are both questionable again here. Starting CB Terell Carr remains suspended following his arrest last week. This will be his 2nd consecutive missed game. Starting TE Dan Knapp tore his ACL for the second consecutive season last week vs Oregon.

UCLA - Starting DT Jerzy Siewierski is questionable with a foot injury that has forced him out of the last 2 games. Starting OG Ryan Taylor will miss his 2nd consecutive game as well with a foot injury. Backup OT Nik Abele will miss the rest of the regular season with a concussion.

OREGON - Starting TE Ed Dickson (flu), RB LaMichael James (flu) and backup RB/KR Kenjon Barner (quad) are both listed as questionable this weekend but with the magnitude of this game, I would highly doubt either one missing

ARIZONA - The Wildcats’ only real injury problem remains at RB as Nic Grigsby has been bothered by a shoulder injury that has limited him over the past month while backup RB Keola Antolin injured his ankle last week vs Cal and is questionable to play here.

WAC

FRESNO STATE - RB Ryan Mathews (1491 yds, 7.0, 14 TD) said ‘s fine after suffering a concussion vs Nevada last week, and if cleared, he will play this week.

Starting RG Andrew Jackson (started 1st 9 this season) is questionable ( sprained left knee). Jackson saw his streak of 31 consecutive starts end last week when he missed the Nevada game.

Starting LB Kyle Knox (28 tackles, 2.5 tfl, started 1st 9 this season) is questionable after missing last week’s game with a lingering stinger (back injury).

Backup WR Devon Wylie (15 rec, 16.1) is questionable with a hamstring injury that started out as day-to-day but had gotten progressively worse. Wylie has missed the majority of the past five games

LOUISIANA TECH - LT HC Derek Dooley made some changed to the starting OL last week.  Dooley said none of the changes were due to injuries.

Starting WR J.P Staurt (17 rec, 14.6) who started eight of the 1st nine (not last week) is questionable with a leg injury.

La Tech is very banged up and last week against LSU had 18 freshmen or sophomores on their two-deep.

HAWAII - Starting QB Bryant Moniz suffered bruised ribs last week but expects to play this week.

Starting WR Greg Salas (85 rec, 16.0) is questionable with a sprained right foot. He said he felt pain in his foot last week against New Mexico State but decided to play through it. He set a school-record with his 16 receptions (for 196 yards) last week against New Mexico State.

Starting CB Jeramy Bryant (33 tkls, 3 pbu, 1 tfl) is questionable because of a partial tear in his biceps.

SAN JOSE STATE - HC Dick Tomey will retire following the end of the 2009 season.

Nearly half of the 22 players who started for San Jose State in the opener at USC weren’t in the lineup for Utah State because of injuries.

Starting WR Kevin Jurovich (51 rec, 13.3) became the Spartans’ all-time leading WR last week and now has 151 receptions.

BOISE STATE - Starting FB/TE Richie Brockel (8 rec, very good blocker) is likely out for the year after suffering a foot injury last week against Idaho.

• Backup RB Matt Kaisermann (150 yds) is out for the year after suffering a broken leg last week against Idaho.

• Part-time starting WR Tyler Shoemaker (21 rec, 16.4) is banged up (unknown exactly what) and his status is in question for this week.

NEVADA - Backup WR L.J. Washington (5 rec, 19.6, 1 TD) is out for the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL last week.

NEW MEXICO STATE - The Aggies haven’t scored an offensive TD in 17 quarters.

NMSU is expected to remain with Jeff Fleming (63 ypg, 53%, 2-9 ratio)   as the starter for the rest of the season.

The Aggies are only averaging 96 ypg which is #117 in the NCAA in front of only the three option-based offense of the service academies.

SUN BELT

FIU  - Injuries: RB Darriet Perry (wrist) out for season (301 yards, 2.9 3 TD)

LB Winston Fraser (neck) out indefinitely (27 tackles, 3 tfl)

North Texas - Injuries: NT –LS Christian Davidson (separated shoulder) doubtful.

NT will break ground on its new stadium TW.

NT has self destructed in several games TY. LW it was an interception returned for a touchdown, a blocked punt (resulting in a 16/7pl TD drive), and a fumble (set up a 47/3pl TD drive) in the second half of a 35-28 loss to FIU.

In its last 2 games (ULM, at FIU), NT has been outscored 38-3 in the second half.

LW HC Dodge said the team was “devastated” because this team did what we asked them to do. We just made too many critical mistakes.

FAU -  A week after allowing 8 touchdowns to UAB, the Owls held ASU out of the end zone until 42 seconds were left in the game.

Hinds replaced the Owls leading tackler – Michael Lockley. Schnellenberger said Hinds has been practicing better and that Lockley has been sick and has not played like he had in the past.

After last week, Schnellenberger grabbed the microphone before leaving the field and asked fans to “stick around” for something “special” that is about to happen to the program.

TROY -  Levi Brown’s streak without an interception came to an end at 265 with his 3 picks at Arkansas. One of the ints bounced off the receiver’s (Gill) hands, and another was a Hail Mary into the EZ at the end of the half.

Troy has 8 consecutive games with at least 428 yards of offense.

Middle Tennessee - Stockstill has removed his name from consideration for the Memphis opening.

This is actually an important game for the NFL as the loser will likely get the #1 pick in the 2009 Draft & take Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh. Browns quarterbacks have a 3-29 touchdown/interception ratio over the last 15 games, have only scored 5 offensive touchdowns versus 28 by the 1999 Browns & their special teams took a huge blow with P Zastudil landing on IR & Cribbs is unknown right now. Quinn needs to rebound after the Monday Night Football game vs the Lions #32 pass defense allowing a 20-6 ratio to prove he can make it in the league & I wouldn’t be surprised if Mangini is let go if the Browns get blown out. This is one of the few times DET will have better playmakers & matchups & I think Calvin Johnson dominates here.

Pittsburgh faces the former Cardinals OC & DC that they beat in the Super Bowl last year. Pittsburgh enters with massive stat edges here with the #9 & #2 units (-4 TO’s) vs KC’s #30 & #27 units (+2 TO’s) who has allowed 400 yds offense in 6 games this year. Pittsburgh HC Tomlin is very upset with his team as they have given up a return of some sort in each of the last 7 games. They will be in a foul mood after losing to Cincinnati at home last week & are fighting for a Wildcard spot barring a Cincinnati collapse right now. Kansas City lost their best playmaker WR Bowe (33 rec 14.1) for 4 games with a suspension. Kansas City is overmatched in the trenches on both sides fo the ball (30th sacks allowed & by) & the Steelers will have lot of fans for this game here.

The bye week did wonders for the Giants as not only did PHI & DAL lose the roster got a lot healthier & they had 53 players practice on Thursday. ATL comes in on their 4th road game in 5 weeks & will start RB Norwood who has missed the L4 games over Turner (high ankle sprain) who will miss. ATL’s #25 defense is smallish & has several rookies & 1st year players at key spots who are starting to wear down & are giving up 391 ypg & 27 ppg on the road. I think the Giants finally go with their run game here (Jacobs doesn’t have a 100 yd game yet) & wear down the Falcons for the win.

This is a tough spot for SEA who are in their 3rd road game in 4 Wks & have another road game vs STL on deck. They are rather unbalanced offensively (#27 run #13 pass) & will be without #1 RB Jones (bruised lung) here. While MIN had a 492-297 yd edge vs DET LW they were sloppy to start the game & I noticed they put some unusual plays on tape in the game to force other teams to prep for them burn practice time. Favre lost in SEA 13-3 LY with the Jets in the snow but he’s got a better team with him now, a healthy arm & in ideal conditions. MIN is chasing NO for the #1 seed in the NFC & I side with a physical power team vs a speed oriented NFC West team on the road.

New Orleans owns the #2 & #27 units vs TB’s #28 & #23 units the last 4 weeks. While Tampa Bay is just 1-8 I have to commend them for starting Josh Freeman when they did & he’s basically saved the season & given Bucs fans something to look forward too in 2010. TB won’t be intimidated by the Saints offense as they’ve seen it the last 2 years & while they don’t matchup talent wise they won’t be shell-shocked. New Orleans has tied an NFL record for 13 giveaways while winning 4 straight but their talent level & the play of Brees in the clutch has kept them undefeated. New Orleans has a huge game on deck vs NE & could be looking ahead here. New Orleans will only have 4 healthy starting CB’s here with 1 being the just signed Chris McAllister & they may rest Reggie Bush (knee). I think TB has a chance to keep this closer than expected but I don’t think they pull an upset.

The Jets pulled a major upset in the 1st meeting as they beat NE 16-9 & held Brady to 66 yds (40%) in the 2H. Things are vastly different this time as Brady has his mechanics (349 ypg 73% 13-4 L4W), Moss who struggled with a back injury last time is healthy, WR Welker & LB Mayo will start after missing the 1st meeting, the Jets will be without NT Jenkins & RB Washington & Belichick has plenty of tape on Sanchez. NE will be focused & livid after LW’s loss to IND & I believe Belichick’s call on 4th & 2 was the right play as they put the game in the hands of Brady & not a rebuilding defense. I firmly believe that the Patriots will show the Jets just who is in charge of the AFC East here.

Kyle Orton has missed all of the practice sessions this week but McDaniels is holding out hope that he’ll be able to start here. In Denvers 6 game win streak they had a 368-263 yd edge (+7 turnovers) with a 22-11 average score. After the bye week Denver shortcomings in the intermediate passing game were exposed & Denver has been outgained 352-249 (-4 Turnovers) & outscored 28-11. San Diego has accepted it is a pass to set up the run team & Rivers has been solid since the Denver loss avg 239 ypg (67%) with a 9-3 ratio & has only been sacked 5 times versus 15 in the 1st 5 games. If Orton was playing this would be the game of the week but I really don’t have a lot of confidence in Simms (13 yds 23% 1 interception last week) even with a full week of snaps here. San Diego has the momentum here & their pass rush is starting to get in gear (16 sacks last 4 weeks) & the Chargers get the win.

The Bills let go Dick Jauron who has a great reputation as a person & a DC in the NFL but his HC stints have been less than successful. They will go with DC Perry Fewell who started out under Jauron as a secondary coach. Fewell is going to go with Ryan Fitzpatrick who had 162 yds (68%) with a 2-1 ratio with Cincinnati versus the Jags last year. Buffalo has 11 players on injuried reserve & had 8 players who missed part of practice on Thursday. Jacksonville got a nice win versus the Jets last week as they turned the tables on them & blitzed their OL to disrupt Sanchez. The Jags will be without 3 defensive starters here (DT Stroud, CB Mathis & S Alexander) & while I think Buffalo will bring more offensively here (Jauron is notoriously conservative) they wont be able to stop Jones-Drew (133 ypg 5.6) here.

The Colts simply matchup well vs the Ravens winning 6 straight by a 26-11 avg score. The bad news for BAL is that DE/OLB Suggs (3.5 sacks) will miss but they will get NT Ngata back for this game. I wasn’t impressed by BAL’s 16-0 win vs CLE on MNF as they didn’t dominate one of the worst offensive teams I’ve seen in a long time. Manning (312 ypg 71% 16-5) faces a BAL secondary who’s weaknesses at CB have been masked by a favorable schedule the L2W. The Ravens have struggled vs good QB’s TY giving up 24 ppg to Rivers, Brady, Palmer (twice) & Favre. Locking up the AFC South isn’t the goal for the Colts the #1 seed in the AFC is & I think the Colts win big vs a beat up BAL defense.

Green Bay is off their best game of the year vs Dallas as they shook off the 2 losses to Minnesota & the embarrassing loss to Tampa Bay. However they gave up 4 sacks (41 TY) vs Dallas & their starting Center Wells (concussion) is very questionable & Green Bay could field their 7th different OL here. San Francisco only has 6 sacks in the last five games but I am reminded of how they overloaded the A-gaps vs IND & kept Manning off balance. SF has 3 extra days rest & I’m not too sure if the 49ers can run on GB who’ve held teams to 75 ypg (3.2) over the  last 6 weeks. SF also doesn’t have the WR’s to challenge GB’s great CB tandem of Harris & Woodson. I think the Packers will get the win here but it will be tough here.

Dallas owns the #13 & #8 units (+1 turnovers) the last 4 weeks vs the Redskins’ #22 & #4 units (-4 turnovers). Washington KO’d Orton last week & then held Denver to 36 yds total in the entire 2nd Half for the win. They now take on a Dallas team that was embarrassed at GB last week just when everyone started to believe in them. Dallas lost RT Columbo (broken leg) for the year & will be without SS Hamlin here as well. I like how the Redksins offense looked with RB Betts at the helm last week as they had 174 yds (4.4) on the ground. While Houston LB Cushing is the front runner for Def Rookie of the Year, Brian Orakpo (32 tkls 7 sacks) could have a big game vs RT Doug Free who is playing in his 1st start & 10th game overall. Records mean nothing in this rivalry & while Haynesworth (ankle) is a gametime decision I think the Redskins can keep this fairly close.

St Louis found itself in a good situation last week as they were off a bye with extra time to plan & rest. Reggie Bush noted afterwards they were very energized to play them & they were caught by surprise a bit. RB Jackson had a great day with 176 (5.0) total yards but I think Arizona has a much better grasp of the St Louis keys than New Orleans does. Arizona has been solid on the road this year going winning all 4 by a 31-15 margin. STL’s top 3 DE’s sat out practice on Wed/Thur but I think they’ll play & support a Rams secondary that will play together for the 1st time since opening week. I think the Cardinals are the better team & they know the best way to neutralize Jackson is to go up big early & Warner is 25-4 in St Louis.

Cincinnati is atop the AFC North after back to back wins versus Baltimore & Pittsburgh & are primed for a letdown as they travel out to the West Coast. The Bengals have a huge talent edge on offense but the Raiders do have playmakers on defense & they led the upset of Philadelphia not too long ago. Oakland finally had enough of Russell & benched him for the year for Bruce Gradkowski who makes his 13th career start. This is his 1st start since last years season final for Cleveland versus Pittsburgh where he had 1.0 QBR in a 31-0 loss. Oakland does need to find out if its the QB or the talent surrounding them for their 2-7 season & Cable has nothing to lose at this point. I think CIN gets the win but the Raiders could be a dangerous team here.

PHI is a very beat up team defensively as they are expected to go to their 6th different starting LB unit & their secondary also has issues. Westbrook is expected to miss the next 3 games due to a concussion & his career could be over. This game is going to come down to which QB makes the fewest mistakes & both defenses will be under a lot of pressure here.

PHIL’S FORECAST: PHILADELPHIA 24 CHICAGO 21
