Strength of Wins/ Pain of Losses Thru Week 6.
Strength of Wins
I find this chart to be very interesting every year. How it’s devised is if you beat an FBS opponent you get credit for all their wins over their FBS opponents. Original Blog post on October 7th can be found <here>.
Here is the updated List thru College Football Week 6.
In this first chart below you can see Strength of Wins. For example Florida on the Strength of Wins list has faced New Mexico St, E Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Missouri and those teams have a total of 19 wins putting them at the top of this list. At the bottom you will see your winless teams Wyoming, UCF, N Texas, New Mexico St and Kansas. While there are only 5 winless teams, my chart grades 15 teams as having credit with a win but their foes have not won a single game vs a FBS foe.
Here is the Complete list of Strength of Wins with rank:

Pain of Losses
This next chart we will go over is the Pain of Losses. Here if you lose to an opponent you get credit for all their losses. While there are 16 teams unbeaten, there are an additional 12 teams who have only lost to an unbeaten foe. Of those 12, 4 teams have 2 losses to unbeaten foes. Wyoming still hanging around at the top of this list with a combined 21 foe losses. Their foe losses include Air Force, Appalachian St, New Mexico, Washington St, E Michigan and North Dakota. Unlike the Strength of Wins chart, the Pain of Losses chart does include a loss to an FCS foe. I count that loss a 4 towards the combined foe loss record due to the weakness of the opponent.

Overall Wins and Losses
In this last chart below you can see the overall wins and losses. As you can see the top teams are Northwestern, Florida, Texas A&M and Ohio St. The bottom teams are all the winless teams. One of the most interesting teams here is Appalachian St (highlighted in green). If you take a closer look, Appalachian St is the only team that has a win vs a winless team, a win vs a 1 win team, and their only loss was vs Clemson one of the unbeaten teams. So they will have a 1-0 record.
