2016 Experience Chart (page 29 of magazine)

For the last week or so I have been going thru the individual factors in my experience chart from the 2016 magazine.  I conclude the series by combining the five factors into my final ranking.

For a complete breakdown of each of the factors involved you can read those individual blogs.

2016 Career Starts Offensive Line - Blog June 13th

2016 % of Yards returning - Blog June 17th

2016 % of Tackles returning - Blog June 20th

2016 Two Deep Class breakdown - Blog June 24th

I then devised a formula that factors all 5 into the total points equation and then turned the point total into a number from 100 to 0. A 100 would be a team with 25 seniors (NCAA scholarship limit) in the two deep and every yard and tackle returning and 120+ career starts on the offensive line. A 0 would be a team with no experience and 0 seniors in the two deep. Just as in years past the first number is where each team ranks in the NCAA.

At the top of the chart this year is Kent St as they have 18 returning starters and just 14 lettermen lost from last year and ranked high in every category. Charlotte (#5 last year) stays near the top at #2 with 16 returning starters this year and just 20 lettermen lost. The most experience Power 5 Conference teams are Tennessee which checks in at #3 overall and Oklahoma St at #6 overall.

At the bottom of the list is Ohio St they were devastated by the NFL draft losing 11 key players. The Buckeyes only have 6 returning starters and 39 lettermen returning. Ohio St was ranked #122 in % yards returning and #120. The rest of the of the bottom 10 are Navy, Arizona St, Buffalo, Akron, Louisiana Tech, Stanford, Notre Dame, Massachusetts (#1 last year), and California (#3 last year).
